Mo and Julie
Julie and I lived in a townhouse in Pike Place Market before buying our home in South Park. Amongst the reasons to buy a home was the vision to one day be hosts and to have a place of our own to park our scooters safely.
Julie is an Interior designer and project manager for a Belltown, based company called Objekts. The look & feel of Jackie Oasis is ultimately her vision. In addition, she is a fabulous chef and a rockstar gardener. She also has a high navigational IQ, and all questions about how to get anywhere should be directed to Julie.
I own a content marketing company called See Spot Run Media. We make websites and create multi-media content to help small businesses get found on the internet. Our offices are just around the corner. I obsessively take photographs. Several of them are hanging in the DADU. I’m also into houseplants; a few live here too 🙂

PLACES TO GRAB A CUP OF JOE NEARBY
There is also a new place called Good Voyage next to Left Bank Wine Bar. Friday, they have fresh, locally made bagels. I had one it was delicious. Not much info about it on the internet so ask us if you are interested in checking it out.
In late 2019 the Seattle City Council voted to rezone many Seattle neighborhoods to allow homeowners to build Detached Accessory Dwelling Units or “DADUs” on their property.
It was the opportunity we were waiting for, and we spent much of our idle COVID quarantine time entangled with the city and its maze-like permitting process. We finally broke ground in July 2021 and passed the final inspection in April 2022. Folks told us it would take years to build this structure. I thought, “No way that Must be False!” But, come to find out, it was true! It was quite a journey, but now here we are. You are!
Fun facts we learned during permitting
We have three exceptional trees on our property, including the sizeable Japanese Maple just to the right when you step out of Jackie O’s front door. Additionally, we learned and became quite familiar with a new term, “liquefaction.” In summary, we live on land that is not super solid. This discovery required us to drive seventeen pin piles into our foundation. The piles go thirty-two feet down, solidly planted into the earth. So rest assured, you are not staying on a boat but, likely, the most grounded 450 square ft structure in Washington State.
Our two dogs, you may see and will hear. Mike is the chunky torpedo, and ModKat (Mod for short) is sleek and slender and will sometimes entertain with her awe-inspiring parkour skills. They are both rescues from California. They may appear terrier-like, but don’t be fooled, as we were. DNA tests revealed they are both very poodle. The duo is obsessed with squirrels and cats, who, in return, woefully tease them with their advanced wildlife skills.
